Testing

Healthcare formaldehyde testing

Formaldehyde is used in pathology, mortuaries, anatomy laboratories and some sterilisation processes. It is regulated under COSHH with strict exposure limits. Our healthcare formaldehyde testing service quantifies airborne formaldehyde concentrations and verifies the effectiveness of local exhaust and general ventilation.

01

Where formaldehyde testing is needed

Histopathology cut-up benches, mortuary refrigeration and post-mortem rooms, anatomy teaching laboratories and any area where formaldehyde or paraformaldehyde is handled regularly. Testing supports both worker safety and air quality verification of LEV and general extract systems.

02

Method

We use validated sampling methods — passive badges, active pumped tubes or real-time PID screening — selected to match the exposure scenario. Results are interpreted against current UK workplace exposure limits and any locally adopted tighter benchmarks.

03

Outputs

Reporting includes measured concentrations, comparison to limit values, evaluation of LEV performance and recommendations for control where exceedances are identified.
